To All Families, Individuals, and Communities We Serve,
This letter is to provide written notice to all who are involved in services through The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming: The Livingston-Wyoming and Genesee Orleans NYSARC chapters are engaged in a merger process. The Boards of both chapters have created a Steering Committee which has been guiding this process along with The Arc New York who also provided insight, guidance and support.
The current environment within our field has stressed many agencies due to the lack of adequate fiscal resources. We have also learned that with consolidated administrative departments we can focus growth on personalized services instead of costly administrative expenses. The combined purchase of costly items such as payroll services, health insurance, electronic health records, and retirement benefits for a large organization, allows for reinvestment of savings into programs and supports.
In order to attain the most positive outcomes for those we support, the Boards of both chapters have signed and submitted a merger plan to OPWDD in the spring of 2020. In turn, we recently received conditional approval from OPWDD which triggers the formal process towards merger.
Both chapters are focused on developing a single strong regional presence while recognizing and celebrating each county’s unique features. We also recognize the vital role families play in the success of such a significant endeavor. We are asking for your support and input to help achieve this momentous collaboration in creating a new Arc New York chapter.
The new chapter’s name will be Arc GLOW and I have been selected by the board of directors as the Executive Director.
Our best regards,
Martin Miskell
