We proudly offer Meals on Wheels in both Orleans and Genesee counties. The programs aim to maintain the independence of our senior population and improve their quality of life.
Our partnership with Orleans County Office for the Aging began in 2009 when we were asked to oversee the Meals on Wheels/Nutrifare program.
In 2016, Meals on Wheels in Orleans County served 43,672 meals, and congregate sites served 5,848.
The Orleans County site is at 16 E. Academy St. in Albion. For more information, contact Vicki Havholm, Nutrition Program Coordinator, (585) 589-7817 or vhavholm@arcgo.org.
Our association with Meals on Wheels in Genesee County began in 2012. For eight years, our team of staff members and individuals in the culinary arts training program have provided about 36,000 hot, nutritious meals annually to eligible Genesee County seniors.
The culinary team also caters for several meetings and events each month. Community members may rent the Arc Community Center for their events, and hire the culinary team to provide catering. As part of the training curriculum, individuals with disabilities participate in food safety and preparation training, menu development, and customer service.
The Culinary Arts Program is located at the Arc of Genesee Orleans Community Center, 38 Woodrow Road, Batavia. For information on Meals on Wheels and eligibility in Orleans County, call (585) 589-3191 and in Genesee County, call (585) 343-1611.
